How to Care for Your MAYSHA Pieces

MAYSHA pieces are made with delicate materials and thoughtful details, from hand-crocheted designs and appliqués to sheer and lightweight fabrics. A little extra care will help preserve their shape, texture and details for years to come.

We recommend hand washing your MAYSHA pieces whenever possible.

1. Prepare Fill a clean sink or basin with cold water and add a small amount of gentle detergent. Avoid bleach, harsh detergents, and fabric softeners.

2. Hand Wash Gently Submerge your MAYSHA piece in the water and gently move it through the water to clean. Avoid scrubbing, twisting, or wringing the fabric. Take extra care around crochet, appliqués, beading and sheer details.

3. Rinse Drain the soapy water and rinse thoroughly with clean, cold water. Repeat as needed until the water runs clear and all detergent has been removed.

4. Remove Excess Water Gently press out excess water without twisting or wringing. Lay the piece flat on a clean towel and carefully roll the towel with the garment inside to absorb additional moisture.

5. Reshape & Air Dry Carefully reshape your piece while damp, paying particular attention to crochet and appliqué details. Lay flat on a clean, dry surface and allow to air dry completely. Avoid hanging wet crochet pieces, as the weight of the water can stretch and alter their shape. Keep away from direct heat while drying.

If You Must Machine Wash Hand washing is always our preferred method for caring for MAYSHA pieces. If machine washing is necessary,  place the piece inside a mesh laundry bag to help protect any delicate fabric, crochet, and/or appliqué details. Use cold water and the gentlest available cycle with a mild detergent.

6. Store With Care Once your MAYSHA piece is completely dry, gently fold it and store it in  a MAYSHA dust bag until you're ready to wear it again. We recommend folding crochet pieces rather than hanging them for long periods of time to help maintain their original shape.

Each MAYSHA piece is designed to be worn, loved and kept. Taking a few extra moments when washing, drying and storing your pieces will help protect the handwork and details that make each one special.
